Explorer Scouts are young people, usually aged between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth section of the Scouting family after Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
Explorers are organised on a Scout District basis and at the moment we have 5 units in Ellesmere Port & Neston.
Units often get the chance to join up together to take part in a wider spectrum of activities. There is also a range of ambitious badges and awards, through which Explorers can demonstrate their proficiencies and expand their interests.
The two main awards available to Explorer Scouts are the Chief Scout Platinum Award and the Chief Scout Diamond award. These awards are closely linked to the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme and we actively encourage and support the linking of the two schemes.

Young Leaders Scheme
The Young Leaders Scheme is just one of the exciting programme elements in the Explorer Scout section. The Young Leaders scheme helps Explorer Scouts to develop and grow as individuals. It allows them to make a valuable contribution to their community and give service to the other Scouting sections. The scheme also helps them to fulfil the service elements of their awards.
