District Cub Camp 2012

Almost all groups attended our District Cub Camp this year at Hadlow Fields – The cubs camped from Friday to Sunday, with the Beavers visiting on the Saturday afternoon.  We started the build up to camp with our very own ‘Olympic Torch’ which was passed on pack nights from one group to another – with all groups attending taking part.  The Torch was taken to camp where we lit our own Olympic basin at the opening ceremony.
The cubs camped in the 5 areas denoted by the rings on the Olympic flag and decorated coloured tee shirts of their own area to wear at camp and then take home at the end of the weekend.
On the Saturday afternoon, when the Beavers joined us all the children visited all the activity stations around camp – we were ‘Panning for Gold’ and ‘moving water’ in Africa, crossing the “Bridge of the River Kwai’ and traversing ‘Everest’ in Asia, going through the ‘Euro Tunnel and moving the rain in the gutter in Europe, making boomerangs and doing the ‘Kangaroo hop’ in Oceania and painting Totem Poles and doing the ‘Cocoa Trail’ in the Americas.
On Saturday night we had a great campfire with skits performed by every cub pack and also one by the young leaders!
Sunday all the cubs achieved their Athletes badge – starting off with a ‘Big Warm Up’
Over the weekend we all signed a large tent peg – showing the winning ‘camp badge’ from our pre-camp “Design a Camp Badge” competition
